Collaborative Essay: Allaura Levi

Today in English Mrs. Elliott gave us the collaborative essay assignment. Personally I am super excited for this assignment. At my table we were all trying to figure out who was going to write what paragraph and what our paragraphs were going to be about. At first we all thought it was going to be easy, however we quikly found out that comparing and contrasting today's society and the society of Jane Eyre and Tess was difficult. The themes that were dominate in Jane Eyre were not exactly the same and the dominate themes in Tess. Although, I must confess, we did get off track for a moment we eventually figured out the structure of our essay. I am also really excited to use Google docs. I have never used it before and it should be interesting to see how it works! This assignment should be fun, I'm looking forward to it!

  1. I'm actually excited for this too! Our table has a good plan so far for it and our books have the same sort of conflicts and some good contrasting elements as well. Well anyways, I agree with your post and I enhoyed reading it, good job!

  2. I must admit, I am a bit nervous for my table to work on our collaborative essay. We have a reputation of being loud, unproductive, and not paying attention. I know I am willing and prepared, along with a couple other table members, to work on the essay and put forth our best effort, but I am unsure if the rest of my table feels the same. I am anxious to see how the essay turns out, and I hope it is quality work.

  3. I had never used Google Docs either, but I found that it was really easy! It made the project run more smoothly because we didn't have to be working on it at the same time but could still leave comments for each other.

  4. I was really impressed with Google Docs too! My table always has alot of difficulty being able to meet up when we have table projects to do, for example the multipedia project on the short one act plays we did last semester. We got to meet up once and not everyone was there at the same time so this allowed us to work togeather without having to organize a time and place for everyone to meet.

  5. I agree with you that google docs was really cool to work with, but was my group the only one who had trouble logging in at the same time? like Jacci said^ (she's in my group) we always had trobule with that, but even though this somehwat solved the problem, some people didn't sign on at all at times. wish we had your group's enthusiasm!-Brenda Samaan

  6. I was excited for this assignment too, which is surprising because I usually hate group projects. However it ended up being a success and I enjoyed it! Alyssa r.

  7. This assignment was unique in the sense that it was the first time I ever used google docs for a group project. We should use it more often!

  8. George I totally agree. We really should use it more often. Actually my group had no problems with all of us signing in at the same time. It was actually really cool to see what everybody was writing at the time they were writing it.
Dane I'm sure your essay turned out great!
